“in the end i want my heart to be covered in stretch marks.”

Welcome to Restoration.
My name is Rachel Chiu (she/her) and I’m a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in Greenville, SC and practice owner of Restore Therapy.
True story: beautiful, hard, embodied work with individuals, couples, and families - is our jam at Restore Therapy. Our passion. Our thing.
I’ve known helping people hold their pain, have different conversations with their important people, and heal from the bottom up is the vision I have for our community - going all they way back to starting my work with clients while in graduate school back in 2012.
We work with people who have lost their way from their self or from each other but we know our clients want to find their way back. Their innate goodness is there, but the doubts or pain stop them from believing it, and it’s WILDLY FRUSTRATING AND SO DAMN SAD.
We know that you GENUINELY long to feel better, to feel healed and whole (guess what - you already are - but we’ll talk about that) and yet you can’t stop the crappy talk track that starts when you mess up or feel alone or feel unimportant to the people you love most - I mean, you’ve probably tried to change that loud, inner critic but it’s gotten you nowhere and that’s why you’re here, reading this, wondering, “How are these therapists different than the 876 other therapists in the Upstate?”
Here’s the thing - my associates and I believe you already have everything you need within you to fix this. Truly. So our task in therapy is to work together to figure out what’s happening together, name it, and change it. We’re holding a place of hope for your relationship. Will you join me in hoping, too?

Equity statement:
We want to work to create a protected space for people who hold different identities from ours. While we identify as cisgender, white women - we know real systemic barriers keep other humans from feeling safe, belonging, and able to flourish in therapy and in the world around us. If you identify as: a BIPOC (black, indigenous, person of color), as LGBTQIA+, are a religious minority, neuro-diverse, a kink person (or couple), a consensual poly person (or couple), or a person differently-abled than us - we want you to know we are working to see our privilege, own our biases, and we consult with colleagues who have experiences and wisdom we lack. We are committed to continually educating our self to do better as allies and as people who endeavor to be anti-racist. If you identify as a person who is a minority for one of the above reasons (or one we missed), please reach out to discuss how we may best serve you. If one of us are not a good fit for some reason, I (Rachel) will make sure to refer you to someone who is. Your identity is beautiful and worthy.
