LMFT-A Supervision

Hey there.

You did it! You finished your Master’s program! All of those classes and hours of client care. All of the hours of live supervision – individual and group. Whew. Pull up a chair and rest a minute. You’ve earned it. Seriously.

Butttttt, I know that you’re already thinking, “Rachel. I can’t sit down and rest. I’ve got to register to take the licensure exam and I need a supervisor to sign off on that. I’ve got more client hours and supervision hours to get. Where am I going to work? Agency or private practice? … IT’S A LOT!”

Yes. Yes, it’s a lot. I get it. So, where do you start? If you’re anything like me (Hello, Type A people who plan for their plans!), you’ve already browsed the LLR website to find out who is a licensed supervisor in our fair state or maybe you took a step farther AND checked AAMFT to see who is on the list for AAMFT-approved supervisors in South Carolina, you over-achiever you. (Same, did that too!)

Regardless, choosing a post-graduate supervisor to work towards full licensure, well, it’s kind of a big deal. Will you like your supervisor? Will they come alongside of your work and support you without judgment? Will it feel too vulnerable? What happens when you misstep with a client? What if you use a different model than the ones I like or use?

I get you. I really do. So, here’s what you probably want to know about me and why I am pursuing my LMFT-S (I’m not there yet, I’m a supervisor candidate, and I’ll get to that and what it means below.).

About me

I graduated from East Carolina University in 2013, with honors. It’s a COAMFTE program – so very rigorous training and supervision.

I worked in agency settings from 2013 to fall of 2016 where I helped parents, families, kids, and teens find understanding for their self and with each other. I left my job at a local DMHC (Department of Mental Health Center) to pursue a career in private practice. I pursued EFT training and help couples find their way back to each other. I wanted to help adult clients, women especially, grow more embodied and grounded.

Between then and now I’ve gone on to complete all required EFT trainings and then some as well as a sh*t ton of EFT supervision hours to get really freaking good at working with couples, with all types of presenting concerns. I’ve found my therapeutic home in the EFT community and model – I see mine and your innate goodness. I see that we are all humans, traveling alongside of each other, trying our best. We are perfectly imperfect and no one needs to walk alone.

Moreover, I’ve realized that the best way to create a culture of kindness, wisdom, allyship, and anti-racism in our Upstate therapy community – is to walk alongside freshly graduated LMFT-As as they get their bearings as a therapist. I want to participate in creating a therapist community that is as diverse as the clients we serve – from therapists and clients who are BIPOCs to persons who are LGBTQIA+, to persons who are poly or use kink in the bedroom, or to those of us who are neuro-diverse or differently-abled than me. There is room at the table for all of us and you are needed here.

What to expect in supervision with me

In our supervision time together, you can expect us to –

Work together to sharpen your therapist skills,

Collaborate to learn more about being damn good therapists,

Address self-of-therapist concerns,

Learn from and grow each other as professionals in the same community,

Endeavor to create a brave space in supervision,

Reflect on ways we can commit to being an ally and anti-racist,

Come alongside of you when you feel really stuck, but in a compassionate, grounded way.

If you’re interested in working together, shoot me an email or call me (Leave a voicemail if I don’t answer, ‘cause, spam.) to start with a free supervision consult to see if we would be a good fit for your post-graduation and supervision needs.

Here’s some other helpful information re: sup of sup –

I charge $100 per 60 min. of individual supervision whereas I charge $65 per 60 min. of dyadic supervision (i.e., if you “share” the hour with another supervisee). Group supervision may be available in the future so please inquire about this. I offer a discounted rate for supervisees who are historically marginalized and/or work with clients who are historically marginalized. Please feel free to ask more about this as my aim it to make good therapy and supervision equitable and accessible to our Upstate area.

Also, please note that I am currently working toward being a licensed LMFT-Supervisor but at present, I am receiving supervision of supervision from Laura Long (SC LMFT no. 4571, SC LMFT-S no. 4651). This means that she co-signs any documents we have to send to the LLR and I am still completing supervision mentorship hours with her as well as counting hours spent with supervisees.
